2025 ANNUAL REPORT WAYNE COUNTY CLERK OF COURTS Scott Wiggam As we close the books on 2025, I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude as I reflect on the work of the Wayne County Clerk of Courts Office. Every day, our team in both the Legal and Title Divisions demonstrates an unwavering commitment to serving the people of Wayne County with professionalism, care, and integrity. Our employees are the strength of this office. Whether assisting individuals navigating the legal system or help- ing residents with title services, they approach their work with a clear focus on the citizen – ensuring each interaction is respectful, efficient, and helpful. Their dedication to public service is evident in the way they consistently go above and beyond to meet the needs of our community. The Court of Common Pleas Division of the Wayne County Clerk of Courts is responsible for processing and maintaining all case records for the Court of Common Pleas, including Civil, Criminal, and Domestic Relations matters, as well as cases filed with the Ninth District Court of Appeals. The Domestic Relations Division maintains records pertaining to marital matters and other non-criminal domestic cases, ensuring accurate documentation and accessibility. The Civil Division manages records related to a wide range of legal actions, including personal injury claims, foreclosures, administrative appeals, and business disputes. The division also generates and processes warrants and issues subpoenas for criminal proceedings. The Appellate Division is responsible for receiving, processing, and maintain- ing all records for cases that have been appealed to the Ninth District Court of Appeals. The Municipal Court Division of the Wayne County Clerk of Courts de- livers a wide range of services to the court, the public, attorneys, and law enforcement. This division is orga- nized into two primary areas: the Criminal/Traffic Division and the Civil Division. 1,081 Criminal Misdemeanor Cases Processed 9,393 Traffic Cases Processed 2,511 Civil Cases Processed 236 Evictions 1,983 Money Suits The Criminal/Traffic Division is re- sponsible for processing and main- taining all misdemeanor criminal and traffic related cases. Its core func- tions include processing tickets and criminal complaints, accepting case payments, processing bonds and ar- rest warrants, facilitating search war- rants, processing court orders and Judgment entries, and assisting the public with inquiries and concerns. The Civil Division handles and main- tains all civil cases involving claims up to $15,000. These cases include landlord-tenant disputes, money complaints, contract matters, and small claims actions up to $6,000. The Wayne County Clerk of Courts Auto Title & Passport Division is responsible for processing titles for a wide range of motor vehicles, including automobiles, motorcycles, mobile homes, travel trailers, campers, motor homes, boats, boat motors, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), off-highway motorcycles, and jet skis. The division also issues duplicate titles for those that are lost or stolen, provided the original title was issued in the State of Ohio.
